Classical Conversations of Missouri and Kansas are pleased to make you aware of some special opportunities to learn more about Classical Conversations at the Midwest Parent Educator Conference coming up April 5 and 6th at KCI Expo Center at 11730 North Ambassador Drive, Kansas City, MO 64153. We will have an information booth in the Exhibitors' Hall where people cannot only speak personally to a CC parent or leader, but they can personally view and purchase CC books and materials from our local book representative, Camille Seevers.
In addition to the information booth, there will be two opportunities to hear more about Classical Conversations in the workshops. Please plan to attend these workshops and invite your friends! The workshops are as follows:
Educating Classically With Classical Conversations - presented by Jill Pettis, Classical Conversations of Kansas City, MO Metro Area Support Manager - Friday, 1:00 pm, Truman Room
Dorothy Sayers, writer and friend of C. S. Lewis, gave a lecture in 1947 and asked, “Do you ever find that young people, when they have left school, not only forget most of what they have learnt…but forget also, or betray that they have never really known, how to tackle a new subject for themselves?” She answered her own question with a practical solution: return to the classical model of education. Founded by homeschooling parent Leigh Bortins, Classical Conversations is an organization which seeks to equip parents and students with the classical tools of learning and a mission to "know God and make Him known." Classical Conversations communities meet worldwide with over 48,000 students, in 47 states, five countries, and three continents. Come hear how Classical Conversations communities in the Kansas City Metro area can help parents and students, age 4-12th grade, recover the lost tools of learning and find success with the classical model of education.
High School: the Challenge - presented by Sarah Coiner, Challenge I Director, Saturday, 10:45 AM, Room F
Need help with your junior high and high school age student? Do you want your student to see Jesus in every subject and witness His divine nature by exploring subjects in relation to each other rather than in separate and isolated classes? Do you want affordable help, guidance, and encouragement from an experienced, trained tutor?
Sarah and Eric Coiner had the same problem. They survived homeschooling their three children through the elementary years, but junior high and high school loomed ahead. Come hear Sarah share their solution, Classical Conversations, which provides a Christian, classical, college-prep education while maintaining the authority of the parent as primary teacher. With CC all their children, elementary or high school, are together at one program one day of the week. CC has given their family a road-map through high school, building skills for life as they seek to "know God, and to make Him known."
